Equipment Mechanic

Position Overview:

An established manufacturer of HVAC sheet metal products, Topnotch Metal Products is looking for an energetic and experienced individual to provide maintenance and repair for all of the company’s machines and equipment.

The ideal individual will have at least ten years mechanical experience and be familiar with machine shop equipment that would assist him or her in the repair, upkeep or enhancement of the sheet metal machines used on the production floor.

The candidate must have a strong understanding of PLC devices, electronics knowledge and diagnostic experience. Additionally, the candidate will communicate with various equipment manufacturers to understand best practices to help define the company’s preventative maintenance program and prevent downtime.

Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of building and shop equipment in order to troubleshoot and perform or coordinate the repair of all vehicles, tools, and machinery used throughout the Company
  • Ensures that equipment is operating at peak performance by performing preventative maintenance duties on a scheduled basis
  • Remove, repair and replace defective parts by dismantling equipment using hoists, cranes, and hand or power tools
  • Address emergency situations immediately and professionally
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing and quotes on repair needs and/or equipment parts
  • Communicate with machine operators to understand mechanical problems
  • Keeps records of each machine up-to-date in CMMS software
  • Checks and determines parts and supply inventory levels needed to accomplish preventative maintenance tasks
  • Provides training to operators on proper use of equipment to prevent downtime and eliminate defects in produced product

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Bachelors degree in a relevant area of study a plus)
  • Minimum 5 – 10 years industrial/commercial equipment repair and maintenance experience
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical and/or mechanical schematics at basic level
  • Strong diagnostics experience
  • Strong understanding of PLC devices and electronic components
  • Possess strong and effective oral communication skills
  • Competent with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and CMMS software
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident
  • Must be capable of passing a pre-employment drug test and background screen


  • $18 – $32/HR Depending On Experience
